FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

After Care

What warranty do I get?

All products are UK supplied and include the full manufacturers' warranty. However, to ensure full protection we recommend you take out one of our protection packages which are available for 3 or 5 years cover.
The manufacturers' warranty doesn't guarantee a timed response, and so you could be without your scanner for days or even weeks should it require a repair. There are also hidden costs - for example several of the scanners we provide do not offer an engineer visit, and so instead it's up to you to return the faulty unit back to the manufacturer.

Ordering, Payment & Delivery

Can I pay by invoice?

Yes, we're happy to arrange for payment to be sent by cheque or BACS and we will despatch your goods the day we receive your order. We will forward your invoice by email or post, which ever you prefer.

Can we lease scanners / shredders?

We offer a full range of finance options to suit your needs. Many of our products are listed with a typical finance example based on a three or five year term. Please contact us for the most competitive rates available at the time of your order. As with the cash price of our goods, we will compete to beat any finance offer you may find elsewhere.

Do you supply to the public sector?

Yes, we're proud to have close connections with many public sector bodies and also offer pricing support to many of these.

I've since seen the product cheaper elsewhere, can you refund the difference?

Yes. We will guarantee to beat any other website price, or refund the difference should you see it cheaper elsewhere within 14 days of your purchase.

Please call us on+91 (20) 4130 2020 and we will beat any price.

What if I cannot see what I'm looking for?

Whether it is a scanner that is not advertised on our website or specific parts for individual scanners we will try our hardest to find the goods for you at a price that will not be beaten.

Please call us on+91 (20) 4130 2020 and we will beat any price.

When will I receive delivery?

We offer next working day delivery to main land UK on all of our scanners. Consumables and shredders may take around 3-5 days. Orders placed after 16:00 will be delivered within 2 working days. Should we be out of stock or unable to deliver within these timescales we will contact you to inform you of the delay. Some products, due to their size, will require special delivery if you are unable to offer assistance to the driver. We will always contact you prior to delivery should this be the case.

Scanner Help

Automatic document feeder (ADF) explained

A scanner with an ADF (or hopper) can be loaded with up to the feeder capacity and left scanning. Some scanners hold up to 500 sheets, which enables you to get a lot scanned before having to refill.

Can the scanners be networked?

Most of the scanners need to be connected to a pc, this is usually by a USBII connection.

There are many Network Scanners on the market these days which will allow for streamling document capture into your workflow by reducing the number of steps needed to capture, convert and distribute scanned information in your document management system or cloud based services. They’re designed to be simple to use allowing for quick and easy scanning to email, network folders, FTP, USB memory, fax, or printers directly from the scanner (dpending on specification).

There are many scanners that will connect directly to a network such as the Kodak ScanMate i1150WN and the Canon ScanFront 400. Alternatively, you can use a USB device server, which will act as a dedicated PC for the scanner which any user on the network can connect to and scan from. Installation is quick and easy, and it is very straight forward to use. For details on the USB device server, please take a look at the Silex DS-510.

Double feed detection explained

Double feed detection is a feature offered by many scanners which will alert the user if more than one sheet is scanned at the same time. Most scanners with this feature will either stop scanning or make an audible noise to warn you. There are several ways in which a scanner can determine if a double feed has occurred - the most popular is using ultra sound to detect more than one sheet.

Drivers (TWAIN/ISIS etc.) explained

Most scanners are TWAIN and ISIS compatible. A scanner with TWAIN / ISIS capability will work with most scanning software products on the market, however some scanners (such as the Fujitsu ScanSnap) are not TWAIN / ISIS compatible, and therefore only work with the software provided.

Duplex (double-sided) explained

A duplex scanner will scan both sides of the document simultaneously. Most duplex scanners allow you to set it to skip blank pages, therefore you can leave the duplex setting turned on and it will simply ignore blank pages.

Images per minute (IPM) explained

Duplex scanners will scan twice as many images as they do pages as they are scanning both sides.

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) explained

Seamlessly convert scanned documents into searchable PDF.

Pages per minute (PPM) explained

The pages per minute (ppm) figure quoted on a scanner specification states approximately how many sheets will be scanned within 1 minute scanning an A4 page in black and white at 200dpi.

Simplex (single-sided) explained

Simplex scanners only scan one side of the document.
